![]() Papillion, Neb. 4/18/2025-- Cobalt Credit Union and its charitable arm, the SAC Foundation, are proud to stand behind local veteran Ron Hernandez with a $25,000 donation that helped him and his family remain in their longtime home. Hernandez, a U.S. Air Force veteran and founder of the nonprofit Moving Veterans Forward, was recently faced with losing his home while battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Despite having helped more than 3,400 fellow veterans find housing through his organization, Hernandez found himself in urgent need—facing a $47,000 deadline to purchase the house he and his wife have called home for decades. This contribution will support military families by providing free access to the museum, ensuring that children and their families can enjoy educational and enriching experiences without financial barriers. The Children’s Museum operates under a “Pay As You Will” model, which allows any child to make use of the facility regardless of the ability to pay. The donation will allow the museum to underwrite those who may not otherwise be able to pay. Young military families are often at the lower end of the income scale and face challenges such as frequent relocations and deployments.
