WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) reaffirms its opposition to Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and House Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO)’s Community Reinvestment Act-like (CRA) language proposed in Section 204 of the “American Housing and Economic Mobility Act of 2024.” DCUC first opposed the suggested CRA-like legislation and continues to be concerned about any additional requirements that could impede the ability of credit unions to reach out to lower-income populations.

DCUC Advocates for the Protection of VA Home Loan Benefits WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) sent a letter to The Honorable Patrick McHenry, Chairman, and The Honorable Maxine Waters, Ranking Member, of the House Financial Services Committee, United States House of Representatives. In its letter, DCUC provided commentary ahead of the committee hearing titled “Housing Solutions: Cutting Through Government Red Tape,” to raise awareness on a regulatory issue that may prevent Veterans from accessing their VA Home Loan benefits based upon recent court decisions.
We’re growing in terms of our footprint, not only in serving the interests of our members and defense credit unions but the entire industry as a whole. We’re increasing our MAC tempo with plans to hold more meetings and strengthen our advocacy for more success on behalf of our members. DCUC Letter to Small Business Subcommittee: Advocating for Veterans’ Access to Business Loans7/22/2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) sent a letter to The Honorable Nick LaLota, Chairman, and The Honorable Hillary Scholten, Ranking Member, Contracting and Infrastructure Subcommittee of the House Committee on Small Business, United States House of Representatives. DCUC provided its response to the upcoming congressional hearing on “Leveling the Playing Field: Examining the Landscape of Veteran Owned Small Businesses," urging the Subcommittee to support legislation that addresses barriers currently hindering veterans from accessing small business loans.
As our nation marked its 248th Independence Day, many celebrated with barbeques, attended parades, and watched fireworks. I am always proud to witness flag displays, patriotic ads on TV and the internet, and of course, heartfelt social media posts. Particularly moving are the tributes to our veterans during these festivities.
