Status
H.R.7036 - Strengthening Cybersecurity for the Financial Sector Act of 2024 was introduced in the House on January 18, 2024, and referred to the House Committee on Financial Services.
Our Position
DCUC believes that cybersecurity, including the security of vendors that credit unions do business with, is an important issue. However, we are concerned with granting additional authority to the NCUA to examine third parties.
Background
This bill would grant the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) the authority to oversee third party vendors employed by the entities under their purview. This authority was previously temporarily granted to the NCUA but has since expired.
Resources
Handouts of DCUC's current advocacy priorities are available for download. These handouts include information on each advocacy priority and talking points you can use when contacting your state representatives and senators.
