|Getting to Chicago|
Chicago, Illinois: Plan Your Trip
How do I get to Chicago?
There are two large airports that support Chicago.
Chicago Midway (MDW) is south of the city and is home to Southwest, Delta and United Airlines. Transfer time can range between 20-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Chicago O’Hare (ORD) is west of the city and a large International U.S. hub for most all airlines. Transfer time into the city is at least 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Try to book flights that arrive and depart mid-morning to mid-afternoon or even late in the evening to avoid most rush hour traffic.
NOTE - The Chicago Air & Water Show, located on North Beach along Lake Michigan, will take place over the weekend of August 17 & 18 in the Chicago area. Because of high room demand and flights into Chicago, we recommend that you make your travel arrangements (flights and hotel reservations) early. If you wait until June or July, there is a chance that flights will be more expensive and our room block may be sold out.
