Defense Credit Union Advocacy Efforts

DCUC is the nation’s leading expert for defense credit unions and through our Military Advocacy Committee, DCUC will help shape and guide the conversations on hot button issues that largely affect defense credit unions and their military membership

Defense credit unions have an important voice and perspective on the issues affecting military families and the defense credit union industry. This experience has been forged by their long history of serving their military memberships and needs to be heard by legislative and regulatory decision makers.

32 CFR Part 230

DCUC supports the proposed consolidation to the DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR) and will remain vigilant on any changes to the current policy.

National Defense Autorization Act

DCUC opposes legislation that would give banks the same access to leases on military bases that credit unions currently have.

Payday Lending Rules

DCUC continues to support legislation and regulations that prevent predatory lenders from making risky loans to our members.

Military Business Lending Exemption

DCUC continues to support Congressional efforts to exempt business loans made to military entrepreneurs from arbitrary and unnecessary limitations.

Military Lending Act

DCUC opposes the ambiguity in the Department of Defense's 2017 Interpretive Rule which has caused several unintended consequences that adversely affect servicemembers.

Community Reinvestment Act

DCUC opposes any CRA legislation that would impose the same regulatory compliance burdens on defense credit unions as commercial banks.
