​WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) announces its strong opposition to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) new rule issued earlier this morning, which caps overdraft fees at $5— a sharp decrease from the current industry average of $35 per transaction. When announcing the new rule, the CFPB stated it believes the rule “allows consumers to better comparison shop across credit products and provides substantive protections that apply to other consumer credit.”

​WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) sent a letter to Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown and Ranking Member Tim Scott, advocating for balanced oversight of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

​The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) is pleased with the release of the U.S. House of Representatives’ official text for the “Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025” (NDAA). The legislation does not include the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) or related study proposals that could give rise to similar regulations.

After seeing that the man-eating shark they are hunting is much larger than originally expected, Chief Brody unemotionally delivers this famous quote to the professional shark hunter “Quint” (Robert Shaw).
