BREMERTON, Wash. – On Dec. 18, 2018 an F2 tornado touched down in our Port Orchard community. As our neighbors rally together to rebuild and recover, Kitsap Credit Union (KCU) is making it easier for those impacted to access cash.

In addition to supporting local organizations like United Way of Kitsap County and the American Red Cross with a total donation of $10,000, and support for South Kitsap Helpline, KCU is offering interest-free Disaster Recovery Loans to those affected by the storm.

“As a mission-driven co-operative, KCU has been in this community for over 85 years helping those around us through big moments in life, even those they never dreamed they would face,” CEO Shawn Gilfedder shared.

He continued, “Our employees are personally vested in the success of our communities and our South Kitsap Branch has been right there with those individuals affected by the storm. We’re currently exploring different ways that we can roll up our sleeves and join the community in rebuilding.”

“We want our community to know that no matter their needs, we’re here for you like we’ve always been. Whether you want to talk about a loan or just need an empathetic ear, come on in. We’re with you,” Gilfedder said.

Kitsap Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative serving membership of over 100,000 from branch offices in Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, and Pierce counties. Membership eligibility is open to those who live and work in Washington State. Learn more at
