Earlier this year in April there was a devastating tornado that went through two local communities of Vilonia and Mayflower. It destroyed many homes and businesses and took the lives of several people. Many of these were members of AFCU. AFCU jumped into action many people volunteered time to help with cleanup and handing out supplies and serving meals. Of the people that lost their lives two of them had a relationship with AFCU. One in particular died that night while shielding his two daughters in their home. Through his heroic efforts he sacrificed his life but saved his two daughters. This man was in the Air Force and used or Service Center on the Air Force Base.
For his family AFCU gave a gift card to help with expenses. We took care of his wife when she came in to get a handle on their accounts. We were able to help them with skipping loan payments. We also took up donated supplies from many of our team members throughout AFCU to offer to this family. It was an amazing time to see friends, coworkers, and members banding together to help those in need. I think AFCU was able to make a great impact on this family during the most difficult time in their lives.
