Join us for a Breakfast Forum Discussion for Military Credit Unions

Since we last saw you at the Defense Credit Union Council’s 54th Annual Conference in San Diego, DCUC has been busy implementing ideas to expand our annual Defense Issues meeting from a military-centric gathering focused solely on DoD banking policy to one that also addresses broader concerns at the federal level. We believe these concerns are relevant, thought-provoking, and designed to offer solutions for credit unions serving both military service members and defense communities at large.

Based on your feedback and ideas, we are pleased to introduce you to DCUC’s new concept: Defense Matters: A Forum for Defense Credit Unions. This new forum replaces Defense Issues and injects new energy in a new format.

As in years past, the meeting will be held the Sunday morning of CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC. We will begin the Forum with a hot breakfast so that you may attend your GAC conference activities later that day. This year we have invited field experts in matters that affect financial institutions: Our agenda includes a Secret Service official who will discuss cybersecurity threats at the federal level; a FEMA representative (invited) who will address the impact of the numerous natural disasters affecting many communities this year. We will also address emerging issues facing our members (e.g., Termination Clauses in Lease Agreements, AAFES Credit Card Expansions, Delays in the MLA Guidance, and Prohibited Source Concerns), as well as recommended solutions to these problems. Finally, we will provide a legislative update and strategy based on DCUC’s recent efforts to increase its advocacy on behalf of all military credit unions. We will adjourn the meeting with an update on DCUC’s plan for growth over the next five years.

We believe this improved format will foster a better exchange of information and discussion between you, our liaison officers, and DCUC. We hope you will join us 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018. To register, visit our website at www.dcuc.org. If you have any questions, please call 202-638-3950.
