Gulf Coast Rescue Mission Used $3,000 Gift To Help Feed Hundreds

BILOXI, Miss. (November 28, 2017) – Keesler Federal Credit Union donated $3,000 to fund a Thanksgiving dinner for 700 people at the Gulf Coast Rescue Mission in Biloxi.

Keesler Federal is one of several organizations that helped fund the Thanksgiving meal, which was served November 23 (Thanksgiving Day). A number of Keesler Federal employees also volunteered to serve at the event.

“This is the season of thanks, and we are pleased to have supported this very important effort,” said Andy Swoger, Keesler Federal President and CEO. “The Gulf Coast Rescue Mission provides a critical service to the Coast community and we are extremely pleased to have been part of it.”

The mission prepared turkey, ham and a variety of side items such as beans and potatoes. The donation was used for the turkey and hams, renting a large tent (where food was served), food items, plates and eating utensils.

Gulf Coast Rescue Mission serves the homeless across the area. Although fire destroyed its former facility in 2016 the community continues to support the mission as it rebuilds its capacity to serve.

Established in 1947, Keesler Federal Credit Union is the largest Mississippi-based credit union in the state, with assets of over $2.5 billion and over 200,000 members worldwide.  More than 400 businesses partner with Keesler Federal, and anyone employed by those companies is eligible for Membership. Many groups also qualify for anyone who is a group member.
