Hanscom FCU Introduces Solar Energy Program

Hanscom AFB, MA – (August 16, 2017) Hanscom FCU is helping consumers interested in tapping solar power for their home with a new service.

Own My Solar, powered by NRGTree, provides homeowners a convenient online and anonymous experience to understand if buying solar makes sense for them. Using only a street address and monthly electric bill, Own My Solar estimates the financial savings a homeowner could realize with a free personalized system design.

“Own My Solar allows our members to quickly determine the economic viability of solar installation for a single-family home,” said Paul Marotta, Chairman of the Board at Hanscom FCU. “We want our members to have as much information as possible to help them make great financial decisions.”

"We are excited to extend the Own My Solar platform to Hanscom FCU’s members," says TJ Caveney, CEO of NRGTree. "Members will be able to conveniently research solar, obtain a customized solar design and estimate, receive bids, and compare the most qualified solar installers’ proposals, and finance their solar panel installation-- all online.

“Unlike leasing solar, purchasing solar enables homeowners to keep all the federal and state incentives, substantially reduce their residential energy costs, and significantly increase their home value,” Caveney noted.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., serves 75,207 members across the country and overseas through 18 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch. The credit union holds $1.2 billion in assets.

NRGTree, a Massachusetts-based technology company, was founded by longtime technology entrepreneur TJ Caveney, for the purpose of more efficiently connecting homeowners with lending institutions and solar installers. The company introduced its Own My Solar online platform earlier this year.
