Overseas Travel Update:
Conference Location:  The Edelweiss Lodge & Resort is located on a military installation on the outskirts of Garmisch, approximately an hour and a half drive from the Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport.  Check – in is at 1500 and check-out is at 1100.  Rooms are equipped with 220V outlets, and dual voltage appliances will work with a simple adapter.  All rooms are furnished with hair dryers and irons.
Currency in Garmisch and all of Germany is the Euro.  However, all purchases at the Edelweiss can be made in U.S.  Dollars.  There are also ATM machines available in the resort for currency exchange.

Airport Transportation:  We recommend that you use the services of Taxi-Heinzinger, run by owner, Lorenz Heinzinger. 

The rate for one shuttle from Airport Munich to Edelweiss Lodge is as follows:

1 – 4 persons Euro 165,00 (total cost for vehicle)
4 – 8 persons Euro 175,00 (total cost for vehicle)

VISA/MasterCard or cash in Euro is acceptable payment for the transfers.

Once you have your travel plans in place, it is easiest to email all pertinent information to:  taxi-heinzinger@t-online.de.  It is also possible to call at 0171 774 9999, but email is preferred method.

Please advise that you are attending the DCUC Overseas Sub-Council Meeting, as special arrangements have been made with this transportation company and Lorenz Heinzinger is expecting our group to contact him.  He will confirm your pick up arrangements directly. 

Please include number of people travelling in your party, arrival information with flight number, city departure, arrival time and airline (see attached form to use).  For pick-up purposes, we have supplied Mr. Heinzinger the DCUC logo to be used on a pick-up flyer for easy identification for everyone in our group.

If you prefer, it is also possible to rent a car or take the train directly to Garmisch.  However, the train does make frequent stops and this transportation service is the easiest and most direct method.
